The Rightly Guided Khalifas

The Rightly Guided Khalifa (Khalifa Rashed, The orthodox caliph) means a successorto the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). All muslims must obey the rightly guided khalifas as The Prophet (pbuh) said:

Therefore, hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Khalifas (Caliphs), hold it between your front teeth! And beware of innovations (in the religion), for every innovation is a bid’ah (bid3a), and every bid’ah is a deviation, and every deviation is in the Fire.(Bukhari & Muslim)

In order for someone to be a rightly guided khalifa he should maintain the following conditions:

1.    He should follow the Sunnah so he should be very just too.

2.    He should be from Quraish Tribe. this condition is not mandatory to be a normal Khalifa in this times (for example the Ottoman Caliphs) but it is a must to be counted among the 12 rightly guided khalifas as the prophet (pbuh) said.

Narrated by Jabir ibn Samurah: The Prophet (pbuh) said: The religion will continue to be established till there are twelve caliphs (Khalifas) over you, and the whole community will agree on each of them. I then heard from the Prophet (pbuh) some remarks which I could not understand. I asked my father: What is he saying: He said: all of them will belong to Quraysh.

3.    All the muslim Ummah (nation) will agree on him as a khalifa. This does not mean that he should rule the whole Muslims’ states. For example: Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did not rule the whole muslims’ state but they all agree that he is the khalifa.

4.    He should be raised in Madina since the prophet (pbuh) said:

The Khilafah (caliphate, succession) is in Madina and the dominion is in Damascus.

We see that Abu-Bakr, Umar, Uthmân, Ali, Abdullah bin Azzubair, and Umar bin Abdul-Aziz (may Allah be pleased with them all) all lived for a long time in Madina while Mu3awiya lived most of his life in Makka and Damascus so he is not among the rightly guided khalifas (Khulafa’  Râshidun) but he is still a great and very just Khalifa.

As we see those strick conditions do not applay at anyone exept 12 people:

1.  Abu-Bakr
2.  Umar
3.  Uthmân
4.  Ali: note here that all the Ummah agreed thet Ali is the khalifa. the disagreement between some of the Companians and Ali was about the political agenda of Ali not about the khilafah of Ali.
?.  Abdullah bin Azzubair: probably he will not be counted here since not all the Ummah agree on him. Many Companians choosed Abdul-Malek bin Marwan as khalifa instead.
5.  Umar bin Abdul-Aziz: A very just khalifa who lived most of his life in the Madina. All the Ummah agreed on him including the Shi3a and the Khawarej (although the Khawarej should not be counted as Muslims)

No one after Umar bin Abdul-Aziz can be considered as a rightly guided khalifa since the whole Ummah needs to agree on him. So, their are still 7 khalifas who did not apear yet. the Mahdi will be the last one of them.

The World before the Prophet Muhammad

September 16, 2008 at 6:27 am | Posted in Prophet Muhammad(S.a.W) | Leave a comment

When Almighty Allah sent His last and greatest Prophet, Muhammad [peace be upon him /PBUH], mankind was immersed in a state of degeneration. The messages of the past prophets had been distorted and ignored, civilization was on the decline and humanity had slumped into an age of darkness, with disbelief, oppression and corruption prevalent everywhere. The condition of the world at that time presented the gloomiest picture ever of human history.

At the time of Muhammad’s birth, there existed two great powers on the earth: one in the East and another in the West. In the East there was the Persian Empire, and in the West, the Roman Empire. As it might be expected, these two powers were actively hostile towards each other, and were more or less, permanently at war. with each other. They were, therefore, and disunited, though appearing to be otherwise. But despite their disunity and weakness, no serious effort was made to eradicate their causes.

The Arabs were living under no better conditions. They were families and tribes of different attitudes and feelings; but they were all one and the same in one respect, and that was: they were slaves of habits and impulses; they used to take pride in invasion and plunder. They were so low in their moral affairs that a number of them used to bury their daughters alive.

Religiously speaking, the Arab of that era were mostly idol worshippers. Some of them used to make their own gods from sweet substances, so later, when they became hungry they would eat them. They had replaced Abraham’s monotheism with the worship of idols, stars and demons, turning the Ka’ba, built for the One and Only Creator, into a pantheon of idols. Also, tribal rivalries and blood feuds, fueled among them like the burning desert sands of Arabia.

The people of Mecca, used to practice usury on a large scale with very high interest rates – sometimes a hundred per cent. When the debtors were not able to repay, and that was most often the case, they were enslaved or obliged to force their wives and daughters to commit certain sins, so as to be able to collect enough money sufficient for the of the debt.

Ignorance was not confined to the Arabs alone, for on the fringes of Arabia where the desert gives way to hospitable lands, met the ever changing borders of ‘World Arrogance’, the two superpowers of the age: the Persian and the Roman Empires.

The fire-worshipping Persians with their strange concept of dualism were further plagued by the still weirder Mazda kite doctrine, which advocated communal ownership and went to such an extent as to rule women to be the common property of all men. Like Mani a few centuries earlier, who had claimed a new religion by combining the teachings of Jesus and Zoroaster, Mazda’s movement was also a reaction to the corruption of the traditional priestly class. Both creeds had flattered to deceive and died away after the execution of their proponents, who more or less depended on royal patronage. On the other hand, the Sassanian aristocracy aligned with the Zoroastrian clergy was steeped in pleasures burdening the downtrodden masses with heavy taxes and oppression.

At the other end was the Byzantine World, which though claiming to profess a divinely revealed religion, had in fact polluted the monotheist message of Prophet Jesus (PBUH) with the sediments of ancient Greek and Roman pagan thoughts, resulting in the birth of Christianity. Way back in 381 A.D., the Greco-Roman Church council had rejected the doctrine of Arius of Alexandria, to which most of the eastern provinces of the empire adhered, and in its place the council had coined the belief that God and Jesus are of one substance and therefore co-existent. Arius and his followers had held the belief in the uniqueness and majesty of God, Who alone, they said has existed since eternity, while Jesus was created in time.

Scattered here and there across West Asia and North Africa were colonies of Jews, to whom several outstanding Messengers had been sent by the Almighty. But these divine favors had failed to reform them. The laws sent to Prophet Moses (pbuh), had benn distorted and tampered with.

Further to the east lay the once flourishing cultures of China and India, which were then groping in the darkness. Confucianism had confused the Chinese, robbing their minds of any positive thinking. On the other hand, Hinduism had no universal pretensions whatsoever, and had evolved and was peculiar to the geographical confines of India, or more properly Northern India and its Aryan invaders. Conversion of foreigners was difficult because one had to be born in a particular caste and it was the mystery of ‘Karma’ that determined one’s fate.

In short, wars, bloodshed, slavery, oppression of women and the deprived held sway everywhere. Might rule right. The world was in dire distress but no one seemed around to deliver it from darkness. No religion, ideology, creed or cult could offer any hope to the agonies and frustrations of humankind.

None of the religions in currency had any universal outlook or even pretensions and were limited to insurmountable geographical and psychological barriers, preaching discrimination and the narrow-minded superiority of a particular race.

Thus it was in such a chaotic state of depression that Almighty Allah sent His last great Prophet, with the universal Message of Islam to save mankind from disbelief, oppression, corruption, ignorance and moral decadence that was dragging humanity towards self-annihilation.

Jesus Has a God

Christians have made the claim that Jesus has 2 natures. One man nature, which he took on, and one divine nature which he always had. They claim as a man, he ate, slept and died etc.

They also claim as a man it would be normal for Jesus to say I have a God. Such as in:

John 20: 15-18:

15

Christians have come up with the weak response that this was the man nature of Jesus speaking. For argument sake we will take this response as correct. So we are able to conclude that:

1-     Jesus has 2 natures, one divine one human

2-     The man nature eats, sleeps, prays and has a God

3-     The divine nature does not sleep, pray, or has a God

However so, it may come as a surprise to many people, but the supposed divine Jesus also said he has a God!

Revelations 3:12:

12

Now the reason I call Jesus the divine Jesus in Revelations is because Christians say that after Jesus rose from the dead and went to heaven that he returned to his divine all powerful state, so therefore when Jesus is talking in revelations this is the supposed all powerful divine Jesus not the human nature Jesus that we saw in the first 4 Gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John.

It must be said though that any logical sane person who reads john 20:15-18 will conclude that Jesus is not God, he is saying that he has a God! And put your shoes to the person Jesus was talking to, if a man came up to you saying he has a God would you actually think he’s God? No, you would abslaoutly not. I want our Christian readers to honestly think about it without being biased but just think of it a man comes to you saying he has a God, would you really believe this man is God?

And Allah knows Best

So as you can see, the divine Jesus still says he has a God! This is not Jesus as man speaking anymore, but this is Jesus as divine speaking, so how can the divine Jesus say I have a God? This clearly proves that there is no such thing as a divine Jesus, and that Jesus is not God since he has a God, even when he is in his supposed divine state.

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. 17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. 18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

Making Takfir upon another Muslim

September 16, 2008 at 4:32 am | Posted in Muslim Unity | Leave a comment

It’s conditions and punishment

In Islamic law making takfir or takfeer is the act of declaring a Muslim individual or Muslim group as being kaffirs i.e. non Muslims. Takfir can be done on Muslims living at the present moment, or Muslims who lived in the past.

Making takfir upon Muslims is not a light issue, and there are several conditions which are needed before takfir can be declared. Secondly, the making of takfir upon other Muslims is reserved for those who have a lot of Islamic knowledge such as the Ulema and Sheikhs, Muslims should not take it upon themselves to call other Muslims kaffirs when they don’t have the proper qualifications to do so.

Before moving on as to show what the scholars say about making takfir upon another Muslim, I would first like to show what the punishment is if takfir is done upon an innocent Muslim who is not a kaffir but a Muslim. From the authentic hadiths of the prophet:

Volume 8, Book 73, Number 71:

Narrated Abu Dhar:

That he heard the Prophet saying, “If somebody accuses another of Fusuq (by calling him ‘Fasiq’ i.e. a wicked person) or accuses him of Kufr, such an accusation will revert to him (i.e. the accuser) if his companion (the accused) is innocent.” ( Sahih Bukhari)

Sahih Muslim Book 001, Number 0116:

It is reported on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar that the Apostle (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: When a man calls his brother an unbeliever, it returns (at least) to one of them.

So as you can see, the punishment of wrongly calling another Muslim is severe, and that if you are wrong and that the Muslim you call a kaffir is not a kaffir then you yourself become the kaffir, which means you shall die in a state of unbelief and be thrown in the hell-fire. So this is why making takfir should be done by those who have a great deal of Islamic knowledge such as the Ulema and sheikhs.

With all that said we now show what the scholars have to say about takfir and its conditions.

Sheikh Ibn Uthaimeen said in his Majmoo al-Fataawaa, 2/125-126 :

Sheikh Ibn Uthaimeen, r.a., was asked, “The conditions for the judgement of takfeer of a Muslim? And the judgement upon the one who did any action that is mukaffir (i.e. expels from the religion) but only in jest (not seriously)?”

The sheikh replied by saying, “For the judgement of the takfeer of a Muslim, there are two conditions:

·       The first, that the evidence that this matter is something that expels from the religion is established.

·       The second, the application of the ruling upon the one who does that, in that he has knowledge of it and that he intends it (aaliman bidhaalik qaasidan lahu).

Thus, if he is ignorant, he does not become a disbeliever, due to His saying, “And whoever contends with the Messenger after the guidance has been made clear to him, and he follows a path other than the path of the believers, We shall leave him in the path he has chosen and land him in Jahannam, an evil refuge” (4:115) and His saying, “And Allaah is not one to misguide a people after He has guided them, until He explains to them that which they should avoid.” (9:115), and His saying, “And We never punish until we have sent a Messenger.” (17.15).

However, when this person is neglectful in abandoning learning and attaining clarity, he is not to be excused. Such as when it reaches him that this action of his is kufr, and then he does not verify it (that it is as such), and nor does he investigate, then in this situation, he is not to be excused.

And if he did not intend (ghayr qaasid) the action (i.e. wilfully, knowingly, deliberately), then he does not become a disbeliever. He does not become a disbeliever. Such as for example, when he is compelled to kufr while his heart is secure with Iman (faith), such as when his thinking becomes confused, so he does not know what he is saying, due to extreme joy and what is like that. Or such as the man with the camel who lost it, then he sat under the tree, waiting for death, and then he finds it tied to the tree, and so he takes it, then he said, “O Allah, you are my servant and I am your lord”, so he erred due to extreme joy.

However, the one who did something that expels from the religion, only in jest (maazihan), then he becomes a disbeliever, because he intended that [action or statement] (qasada dhaalik), as has been textually stated by the people of knowledge.”

So as you can see, a Muslim who makes statements out of Kufr because he doenst have a lot of knowledge concerning an issue does not become a kaffir. However so if this person is given proof of his mistake with clear evidences by the Quran and Sunnah, and he persists to continue in his kufr then he is not excused. So this is why Muslims should not be so quick to call a fellow Muslim a kaffir for making absurd statements regarding Islamic issues, rather we should speak with them in a kind manner and refute them with clear evidences. Also if the Muslim makes a statement of kufr or an act of kufr but his heart still has iman then he is still not a kaffir and neither should he be called as such, verily Allah is merciful.

So therefore this should make it clear to all Muslims that we should NEVER call a Muslim a kaffir at once when they make glaring mistakes concerning Islam, rather we should teach them and correct them and bring them back to the straight path not condemn them and kick them out which will simply alienate them and make their hearts harder!

Furthermore, Sheikh GF Haddad writes:

This reply is in two parts, the first are some primary texts and the second some Hanafi fatwas on the issue.

Imam Abu al-Qasim ibn `Asakir narrates in Tabyin Kadhib al-Muftari (p. 373-) with his chains:

1. >From Khaddash ibn `Iyash:

We were sitting in a circle in al-Kufa when a man among us said: “We were sitting with Abu Hurayra whereupon a young man passed by. A man sitting with us said: ‘This is a Kafir from among the people of the Fire.’ Abu Hurayra rose and went to speak with the young man, asking him: ‘Who are you?’ He replied: ‘Son-and-so, son of So-and-so.’ Abu Hurayra said: ‘Allah have mercy on your father!’ The young man was looking around, so he asked him: ‘What are you looking for?’ He replied: ‘I have not prayed yet.’ Abu Hurayra said: ‘So you pray?’ The young man replied: ‘Subhan Allah!’ Abu Hurayra: ‘And you say Subhan Allah?’ He said: ‘La Ilaha illAllah!!’ Abu Hurayra: ‘And you say La Ilaha illAllah?’ The young man said: ‘I would prefer not to leave Salat even if I were given all there is on the face of the earth.’ Abu Hurayra said: ‘Allah have mercy on you. Allah have mercy on you. Allah have mercy on you.’ Then he came back to his seat in the circle and said: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah say: “Whoever bears testimony against a Muslim of which the latter is not deserving, let him prepare for his seat in the Fire.”‘”

2. >From `Ubayd Allah ibn `Umar, from Nafi`:

A man said to Ibn `Umar: “I have a neighbor who bears witness against me that I commit shirk.” He replied: “Say: ‘La Ilaha illAllah,’ you will make him a liar.”

3. >From Sawwar ibn Shabib al-A`raji:

I was sitting in Ibn `Umar’s house when a man came and said: “O Ibn `Umar! There are groups of people bearing witness against us and attributing to us kufr and shirk.” Ibn `Umar replied: “Woe to you! Did you not say: ‘La Ilaha IllAllah’?!” Whereupon the entire household began to say La Ilaha IllAllah until the house was shaking.

4. >From al-A`mash, from Abu Sufyan:

We came to see Jabir ibn `Abd Allah who lived in Makkah and resided with the Banu Fihr. A man asked him: “Did you [the Companions] use to call anyone from the People of the Qibla [i.e. Muslims], ‘Mushrik’?” He replied: “I seek refuge in Allah.” The man continued: “Did you call anyone from them ‘Kafir’?” He said: “No.”

So this should be enough for now. So therefore all Muslims should refrain from calling another Muslim a kaffir since this could lead you to the hell-fire.

And Allah Knows Best!

The Challenge

September 16, 2008 at 4:19 am | Posted in Prophet Muhammad(S.a.W) | Leave a comment

There is no doubt that the prophet Muhammad was a great man, and a great example to mankind, he was kind, honourable, and always cared for others. Yet anti-Islamic’s try to paint a different picture of this blessed man, they claim he was a terrorist! Quite an absurd claim really, especially when one reads the authentic hadiths with an open heart, for instance check this article out, and you decide for yourself if he is a terrorist:

http://muslim-responses.com/No_killing_women_and_children_/No_killing_women_children_

But since anti-Islamics always make these evil claims about this great man, I thought I would put forth a challenge to them, and every other person who brings up such claims against the prophet Muhammad, and the challenges are not hard at all! The challenges are as follows:

1-     Bring me one single Islamic source which documents or quotes the prophet Muhammad saying go kill innocent women and children.

2-     Bring me one single Islamic source which documents the prophet Muhammad killing a child.

Now that is not too hard is it? Off course not, anti-Islamic’s who call the prophet Muhammad a terrorist should have no problems in meeting these challenges.

Hopefully one anti-Islamic will be able to address the challenge.

And Indeed Allah Knows Best!

the real HAJJ

the  real  HAJJ

Abdullah ibn-i Mubârak  was the greatest scholar of his time within the Muslim land extending from the Atlantic Ocean to China and from the North of the Caspian Sea to the Indian Ocean including a great portion of Africa.  He was a contemporary to Imam Malik. Abdullah ibn-i Mubârak was a great personage, a great scholar of hadith.  He was a serious researcher, a trustworthy scholar.  As a scholar of hadith, he was also a critical historian.

He carried out three things in his life one after another.  He participated in Jihad for one year because of its spiritual rewards. He would put forward his life, his property, and everything he had.  The following year, he would go for the Hajj because it would be as rewarding as the Jihad. After the pilgrimage, he would practice business–buy and sell goods–for one year because it is also very rewarding spiritually.

Once, Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak entered Kufa when he was intending to go on the hajj. There was a woman sitting on a rubbish-heap plucking a duck. It occurred to him that it was carrion. He stopped on his mule and said to her, ‘Women! Is this duck carrion or sacrificed?’ She said, ‘Carrion.’ He said, ‘Then why are you plucking it?’ She said, ‘So that my family and I can eat it.’ He said, ‘Woman! Allah Almighty has forbidden you carrion while you are in a land like this!’ She said, ‘Man, go away.’ They continued to exchange words until he said to her,’Where in Kufa do you live?’ She said, ‘In the quarter of the Banu so-and-so.’ He said, ‘By what is your house known?’ She said, ‘The Banu so-and-so.’ He left her and went to the inn. Then he asked about the tribe and they directed him to it. He said to a man, ‘You have a dirham if you come with me to the place.’

“He went until he came to the tribe which the woman had mentioned. He said to the man, ‘Go.’ Then he went to the door and knocked on the door with a stick that he had. The old woman said, ‘Who is it?’ He said to her, ‘Open the door.’ She opened it part way. He said, ‘Open it all the way.’ Then he got off his mule and hit it with the stick and the mule went into the house. Then he said to the woman, ‘This mule and the provision, money and clothes on it are yours, and you will have what is halal from it in this world and the Next.’

Then Ibn al-Mubarak remained hidden until the people returned from the hajj. Some of the people of his land came to him to greet him and congratulate him on the hajj. He turned to say to them, ‘I had an illness and did not go on hajj this year.’

“One of them said, ‘Glory be to Allah! Did I not leave you my goods with you while we were at Mina and we were going to ‘Arafat?’ Another said, ‘Did you not buy for me in the same way?’ He turned to say, ‘I do not know what you are saying. As for myself, I did not go on hajj this year.’ On that night, he dreamt of someone saying in the night to him, ”Abdullah, rejoice! Allah accepted your sadaqa and He sent an angel in your form who performed the hajj for you.'”

Compare our Hajj with Hajj of saints like Abdullah ibn Mubarak. Today millions of Muslims like the women in the story, widow and unsupported but the Muslims today are we taking any effort to help them. Many Muslim children are orphan and do not evn have proper clean food to feed on. But majority of the Muslims today emphasize on going for Hajj instead of spending the money to help the poor and needy.

Rasoolullah (s.a.w) said: The rich will perform Hajj as a pastime, the people of the middle class will do so to conduct business and the poor to beg for charity.(ibn al_Hajj)- The SIGN OF QIYAMAH

Wassalam

ISLAMIC HIJAB – ARE MUSLIM WOMEN OPPRESSED?

September 16, 2008 at 3:40 am | Posted in Women In Islam | Leave a comment

ISLAMIC HIJAB – ARE MUSLIM WOMEN OPPRESSED?

The feeling still persists in society that Muslim women wear Hijab or the outer covering because they are slaves to tradition, so much so that it is seen as a symbol of oppression. Western society says that women’s liberation and independence is impossible unless they first remove the Hijab. This view is not correct. Why do Muslim women wear the outer covering that sometimes covers their face and hides the rest of their body?

Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran, Chapter 33, Verse 59: “O Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons; that is better, that they should be known (as such) and not be molested.” And in Chapter 24, Verse 31: “And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what appear thereof; that they should draw their scarves over their bosoms – “

Muslim women all over the world are wearing Hijab as a religious requirement and a sign of respect, not out of a misdirected sense of “tradition.” It is both a sign of a women’s obedience to Allah and a manifestation of her faith. The Hijab is part of a Muslim’s religious identity. It gives women dignity and self-respect.

Islam commands women to cover their bodies so as not to trouble men who are weak and unable to resist temptation. In Islam, men and women are commanded to dress modestly and not appear “naked” in public, even in all male and female situations.

Just as a short skirt or a see-through dress can send the signal that the wearer is available to men, so the Hijab signals, loud and clear: “I am forbidden to you.” Wearing the Hijab protects the female from harassment and men. It is the western women who are to be pitied for displaying their private self for all to see.

An American, Ruth Anderson, has said: “Hijab is not a sign of backwardness, ignorance or mental incompetence, but a woman’s duty and her right.”

A women in Hijab is like a jewel that is of high exceptional value and that which must be kept hidden. Wearing the Hijab is a choice that Muslim women make. To discard the Hijab or expose that part of her body ordered covered by the Divine Law is to disobey Islamic principles and a women’s basic Islamic belief.
